Some members of WAMY advisory council like Dr. Ibrahim Mangondato, Atty. Basher Macapado, and Dr. Ali Panda attended the event. The scholars as well as participants of the essay writing competiton and mosabaqah elmiyah were also present. The very purpose of the first part is to have the scholars get acquainted with their co-scholars from different schools in different places and to have a harmonious relationship with the WAMY management. Scholars were given the WAMY’s key holders as a souvenir in appreciation for their attendance.
Ameroddin Ampatua did a very good job in hosting the event. The program started with the Qur’an reading by Moctar Amerdoddin, a student of Jamiato Janob Al-Filibin. Ustadh Abdul Carim Angni gave his heartwarming opening remarks. It was followed by a Visual Presentation of WAMY Secretary that focused on the humble beginnings and accomplishments of WAMY.
The WAMY Director gave his congratulatory message immediately after the awarding and announcing of the winners. It was followed by short insights of Dr. Ali Panda. The sumptuous meal was served around 12:30 pm. Before the program ended, Moctar Bato appointed Norhassan Curo (MSU Law Student) as over-all chairman of the scholars, Abdul Naif Ibrahim (Xavier University Accounting Student) as his co-chairman, Jamima Macabando (MSU-IIT Law Student) as a secretary and Aisha Jamilah Datu Haron (Xavier University Accounting Student) as a treasurer. The officers gave their individual inaugural messages.
The highlight of the event was of course the awarding of the Essay writing winners and mosabaqah elmiyah winners. All the Essay winners were given a plaque. Aside from the plaque, winners also received a cash prizes.
The Essay writing competition was organized by WAMY’s education department last Ramadan while the mosabaqah elmiyah was organized in coordination with Jamiato Janobil Filibin last October 18, 2009.
And the winners are as follows:
2nd Category with the theme “The Ideal Muslim student”
1st Place: Abdulhamid M. Gunda of Mindanao State University
3rd Category with the theme “Goodness towards parents “
1st Place : Hanna-Tunisia Fatimah Usman of MSU-ISED Science High School
4th Category with the theme “Muslim Student as a propagator” in Arabic language
1st Place : Caironesa Abedin of Jamiato Muslim Mindanao

All participants were given a CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION.

The Awarding Ceremony of the Ramadhan Essay Competition was held Saturday October 31, 2009 in the Function Hall of Mamitua Saber Research Center at MSU Main Campus, Marawi City. It was conducted by Director Monib Sarangani, WAMY Philippines. It was really an opportunity for the students, participants and guests for having attended the said affair.

This is for you….. And don’t be surprised. It is love….love for the prophet must be greater than from one’s self…In the Day of conquest of Makkah, Abo Qohafa (Father of Abu Bakr) embraced Islam later in his life when he became blind. He was accompanied by Abu Bakr to the prophet to declare his testimony and he made the covenant with the Prophet. Prophet said: O Abu Bakr, why did you not leave your father in his house so we will be the one to visit him. Abu Bakr said: O Prophet! You are the most honored person….and so Abo Qohafa embraced Islam…Abu Bakr cried. They said to him: This is the day of happiness. Your father embraced Islam and he was saved from the hell fire, so what makes you cry? He said: Because I have wished to see that the one who embraced Islam today is not my father but Abo Talib (uncle of Prophet Muhammad) ..it would make the prophet happier….Glory be to Allah! Abu Bakr’s happiness is not his father’s embracing of Islam but rather the happiness of the prophet … where are we in this kind of friendship?
