Marawi City- The first WAMY-Phil Assessment test took place on January 16, 2009 at 10:15 am in Ibn Siena Integrated School. The exam was administered by WAMY management spearheaded by Monib Sarangani. A total of 139 college students took the exam. The overall rate of examinees that reached the score of 50 and above was 47%.

The philosophy of the WAMY-Phil Assessment test is to motivate Muslim college students to exert effort in their academics and also to seek knowledge about Islam. Scholarship examination is thus a test of academic commitment and determination, as well as intellectual prowess.

It is WAMY's policy that only college students who applied for the scholarship are eligible to take the examination. There are students who did not meet the requirements but they were allowed to take the exam.

Topnotchers of the exam will be granted for WAMY Scholarship. Result will be released after the examination in Cagayan de Oro City is given. It will be posted in WAMY-Phil website and will be announced in DXAD.

The WAMY Education Department chaired by Moctar Bato wishes to thank all the hardworking volunteers: WAMY scholars in Marawi City, JMIF

Faculty members (Salinor Andig, Sohailah Macaager & Adawiyah Salie), Ibn Siena Administration, WAMY- Advisory Council (Dr. Ali Panda) who have helped to make the exam a success.

Short Stories

This is for you….. And don’t be surprised. It is love….love for the prophet must be greater than from one’s self…In the Day of conquest of Makkah, Abo Qohafa (Father of Abu Bakr) embraced Islam later in his life when he became blind. He was accompanied by Abu Bakr to the prophet to declare his testimony and he made the covenant with the Prophet. Prophet said: O Abu Bakr, why did you not leave your father in his house so we will be the one to visit him. Abu Bakr said: O Prophet! You are the most honored person….and so Abo Qohafa embraced Islam…Abu Bakr cried. They said to him: This is the day of happiness. Your father embraced Islam and he was saved from the hell fire, so what makes you cry?  He said: Because I have wished to see that the one who embraced Islam today is not my father but Abo Talib (uncle of Prophet Muhammad) ..it would make the prophet happier….Glory be to Allah! Abu Bakr’s happiness is not his father’s embracing of Islam but rather the happiness of the prophet … where are we in this kind of friendship?

Qur'an Verse

"On the Day when every soul will be confronted with all the good it has done, and all the evil it has done, it will wish there were a great distance between it and its evil. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself. And Allah is full of kindness to those that serve Him." - Al-Qur'an, 003.030 (Aal-E-Imran [The Family of Imran])
